-Disability: Yumiko was born with a problem with her esophagus that made it very
difficult for her to speak. She can make grunts, moans, and the like, but they all
sound rough and scratchy. She’s gone to speech therapy many times and has had a few
operations, but there’s been no progress yet.

(Although she knows JSL and ASL, Yumiko usually writes what she wants to say on a
notebook she carries around everywhere. She’s a faster writer than a typist, so she
rarely uses text messages unless she has to. Sign language worked fine enough, but
she got tired of people not being able to understand her.)
-Pets: Yumiko has an orange and white pet hamster named “King”.
-School: Yumiko is fairly intelligent for her age, and has skipped a few grades.
-Behavior: Once, Yumiko was a quiet girl. Feeling out of place with her other classmates,
she was always shy and nervous. Eventually, she found out that people tend to not
get as angry with you once they know you have a disability, and she began using it
to her advantage.
Nowadays, Yumiko is a huge tease, and instead of trying to make friends, messes with
just about anyone she comes across, usually pretending to be a cute and clumsy mute
girl. She’s a bit of a bully, she just can’t beat anyone up because everyone’s at
least four years older than she is…
None of the “bully” bullies mess with her, finding her boring because she can’t talk
and they have to either decipher her sign language or wait for her to write something.
